worked out for over an hour with my wii fit plus and i’m sore all over.

if all i did was walking, cycling, hula hoop, step aerobics and i’m this tired, i can’t imagine the pain those contestants on the biggest loser wouldd be going through…

but i feel good…lost a kilo in 2 days…just need to lose another 80kg more to be of a healthier range…

ayman paid a visit and we had dinner together at home, cooked minced kheema and diced vegetables with rice…he still can’t believe how unstoppeable i was when we walked through attaba through to hussain in the cairo summer heat and this was also after going to the australian embassy to pick up ayman’s passport at the world trade centre and walking around downtown…just thought going foot was better because of the horrible traffic and the scamming taxi drivers…

i think if i were to be given a deadline, i’d do my best to fulfil it even it means unconsciously running marathon, but just don’t literally say to me to exercize or else i get so put off…

ayman dropped by because we’d just received letters from the immigration department confirming my withdrawal of my sponsorship and support for ayman’s stay in australia…it all came a bit of a shock because it was a result of my first letter to them which was last year, of which i later retracted…

to be honest…as annoying as he can be sometimes…i still need him here so he can truly fulfil his role as a father to baasil…and they have started to become quite close…i don’t want him to be like other egyptian dads in his country who mostly have gone abroad to earn a living to feed his family and as a result have absolutely no connection or relevance to his children…

had no idea this inter-faith dialogue forum was on in melbourne or else i would’ve flown there. should start watching abc more!

i didn’t even know there was such a thing as a world parliament for religion…its definitely a better idea than the existence of the eu or even the united nations because it connects every individual with another rather than just leaders of a majority of people in a country who bothered to vote or chosen because someone of a higher authority did their job better than they could ever do…

i certainly think this event should get more exposure, especially within our muslim community, because there are just not enough of us voicing out our more moderate, proper stance towards islam and especially for those persons who only stick to their own kind (which are plenty in any community) -a little awakening to other worldviews, beliefs won’t hurt, only enhances…

its not because you think islam is any lesser and you want to try out all the others but because you’re confident and happy where you are that you don’t mind exploring beyond the knowns to greater appreciate your own beliefs and how the world works…

abc hasn’t put up transcripts to this forum or a video but i hope they do because even though there was a muslim representative there -dr suhair alqurashi, the dude next to her, anthony padovano -a catholic theologian, made more sense, in explaining issues for example of identity when the minaret ban in switzerland issue came up. the way he said it was when you don’t know who you are and along comes a certain group who do, its natural to feel threatened. people weren’t just freaked out over 4 minarets over the whole of switzerland but the idea the shariah might creep in and overrun their system/way of life.

they also touched issues on fundamentalism in all faiths…how why is that only the totalitarians get covered in the media -is made a norm, and those who come together in peace for these inter-faith dialogues are a rarity…and the theologian replied along the lines of if someone had any love for their faith, they wouldn’t go to such extremes, you would want others have what you want for yourself. he gave an analogy -people use religion as a weapon for their ulterior motives…if a husband loved his wife -he would never use his hand on her…if he does hit his wife and use religion to somehow defend his action then there was no marriage to begin with…(a lightbulb moment!)

suhair did mention how stigmatised muslims were after september 11 and that its not fair that everyone should be blamed because of just a few but that was it…there wasn’t anything from her that really got you thinking apart from when she pointed out how its best we sort out our problems in our day and age and impose these on the youth/future generations.

tim costello -head of world vision, christian priest and brother of ex-liberal finance minister peter costello (who i hate), pointed out how australia seems to have this profound fear with people arriving by boats, like another invasion is likely to happen when they touched on the current asylum issue especially with those fleeing tamil sri lankans, yet they don’t have a fear for those who come by planes…(and there are so many who overstay by plane)

i think it was the rabbi or it could be the theologian who quoted how people think the arrival of new people, civilizations would end noble humanitarian values but each one from the greeks to the romans, from the east europeans who had made their way to america to the latinos to the asians -all kept these values in tact and it was tim costello who said because the world has become more inter-connected, inter-twined -the h1n1 and world financial crisis couldn’t prove this more evident, then there should be a global ethics on how to deal with one another, the diversity. i agree!

this event reminded me of my days in notre dame -a private catholic uni that i use to go to. even though there were quite a handful of muslims who attended this uni and i did have to study theology as one of those pre requisites in first year, i really enjoyed the inter-faith discussions i had with my peers, even with my priest lecturers. its true when it says in the quraan how christians are more closer to you than the jews, its because of the love aspect, how much they service others in order to serve God. its so similar to islam. there were times when i forgot they were christians because of this. ahhhh freo!!!

bought this (bundle) for $119 from dick smith’s online which had a free delivery offer last weekend…thought that was a bargain only to find out that big w and k mart are now selling them for the same price this week from their catalogues…grrrr!!!

anyways, because i still haven’t got my period (where o where for art thou period!!!) …thought before i start to realistically take steps towards having lap band surgery, that i’d try working out instead with this wii fit plus…

was shocked to find my wii fit age to be 43, so can you imagine my bmi!!! and i’m not even yet 30…not for another 2 weeks at least…

but with this newer version, i feel like its still more like a game then an actual fitness workout…like an extended friendly version of wii resort…and its enabling me to do things i have difficulty doing in real life -for instance running!

there’s a fat chance you’ll ever catch me running especially around mirrabooka because half of the muslim population lives here and i know word will get back to either my parents or husband if i just happen to wear a piece of clothing wrong and i just can’t be bothered listening to any feedback and also because of my weight, even walking has been more difficult lately because i’m so out of breathe…thats why this wii fit plus thing is so ideal!!! and it felt so good running on wii!!! i never felt this before be it in real life or virtual…and it gives you quite a selection of things to do which is great coz i get so bored easily

this was the hero’s welcome danny green received today in perth after retaining his ibo cruiserweight boxing title last week…

i”m not into boxing but this would have been the shortest ever boxing match i have ever come across (2 minutes) compared to the months of campaigning, marketing that was spent to get people aware of this match…i guess his days on dancing with the stars did help with his game afterall…

i took baz and his dad to the zoo 2 weeks ago to acquaint them with the animal kingdom…the zoo has over 230 species but most of the animals felt like being indoors or their display was under maintenance -how annoying! what was more annoying was ayman saying it was no different from the cairo zoo! phffft! like we care less about animals then they do for example the stray anorexic scavenging dogs there…

highlight was ayman realising that aussies here spend their weekends with their families, especially the little ones. even if it means going to the zoo. because he thought they had no life apart from work, sleep and booze.

had just cooked up my interpretation of jamie oliver’s fish in a bag -same concept but with an asian twist: garlic, ginger, chopped corader leaves, crushed coriander seeds, fish sauce, chilli, coconut milk -and it worked -yay!!! (compared to my 1kg of unopened frozened lemongrass chillied mussels last weekend)…thought that was it for the night after watching little britain usa

Little Fishy – Singapore Merlion

just had a call from uncle rusli who lives in jurung west, singapore…just wanted to let us know that mum’s now with them and will be waiting for my sister afizah to arrive there tonight before they both go to malaysia. its mum’s first time in singapore after 25 years -can you believe that! the first thing i said to her was -hurry up and come home!!! i’m sick of cooking!!! i really am. today couldn’t be stuffed. just made chicken snitzels with mxed vegies cooked in prawny coconut milk with rice. i know, unlikely combination. pak nga (uncle rusli) told us that they were stranded for another 2 hours in changi because singapore airlines thought she was headed for perth along with the rest of the hajj group. they were able to trace it in the end. i have to admit, it does feel good hearing from her, that she’s well, not sick or anything. she really wanted to get into more details but she was using pak nga’s phone.

i had to take a psychology test when we did baz’s 8 months medical check up to see if i was ok, not suffering from post-natal depression.
i scored 9 which was borderline and the nurse said if i ever needed anything that they were there. lucky it was trudy and not the other witch. to be honest, was hard to explain it to her especially when ayman was in the room. he offered to give us a ride. only said its bcoz mum’s away and i’m the only one looking after the household, not able to study, home-ridden…

baz is weighing 10.2 kg for 8 months. is starting to get the hang of sitting by himself but keeps falling to his right when he’s tired. has crawled to me once but i think because i’ve put him on the walker that thats not teaching him to use his legs, that its starting to go wobbley but its the only way for me to get things done in the house and where i can keep an eye on him for now…he just loves touching things, especially when he can create sound from it. always tries to catch water when he has his bathe and cries when bath time is being cut short. he enjoys kicking me in the morning when he does a 90 degree to wake me up…loves showing off his 1st tooth by gnarling it…he’s just so adorable and interactive right now…loving it

belated eid mubarak everyone…

didn’t do much. in fact, didn’t even know it was eid until i heard the eid takbir being said on one of the malaysian tv1 the night before so cooked up 2 big roast ducks instead.

felt beautiful tingles inside me when they showed people doing the tawaf around the kaaba in the rain…mum would’ve been one of them, lucky her…just seemed so bizarre to see mecca rain since when does it ever rain there?! and yunno what the hadith says when it rains felt the same when i spotted the moon from the dining room sliding door that overlooks the open patio and backyard. normally we leave the garden light on so we don’t have to use the lights inside in the kitchen and dining because the lights emit so much heat inside especially during this time of the year and because we you can normally find your way around, even do the dishes whilst the backyard light is on. but last night the garden light wasn’t on and it just felt strange and wondered where this golden light was coming from as i walking towards the kitchen. the light looked like as if the neighbours had put on some really bright stadium lights that also shun on our side as well but it was the moon! subhannallah! was just so beautiful seeing the moon the only one shining so brightly whilst everything else was in the dark. just one of those things you never realise.

ayman did drop by and has still decided to not settle for divorce, korban/sacrifice his family for his own selfish needs. for now i guess because i did write up my terms for divorce beforehand. and i was preparing myself for the worse. but no, i guess Allah still wants us to be together.

later my sister shila and dad along with ayman, baz and myself went to see my sister’s and their new place which was just on the other side of mirrabooka. have to say, its quite a nice, manageable place -3 x 1 house with a great undercovered entertaining area complete with a barbeque place and raised lawn on top, well kept manicured lawn and trees in the front that adds some privacy -its definitely something i would buy if i were to look for a place. didn’t think such a place could exist in mirrabooka and its just a 5 minute walk to the local primary school with plenty of parks littered close by. not to mention the masjid. mum would definitely be happy when she comes back now that her other grandkids are so near now.

the feral nephews were very well-mannered being over their place, mainly because their dad was there. was hard to continue and be mad at rayhan -the one i slapped for running on the road because he’s usually my favourite and the more attentive one out of all 4 nephews.

now tomorrow have to see if i can bring baz to the perth zoo as this would also be my weekly exercize out in the open as well…
